3 held for burglaries, Rs.15 lakh worth jewellery recovered

Three men were arrested in Delhi for over 17 cases of burglaries, and stolen gold, diamond and silver jewellery worth Rs.15 lakh were recovered from them, police said Tuesday.

Mohammed Furkan, 29, Naved Alam and Mazhar were arrrested Sunday from Daryaganj area in Old Delhi.

Police recovered 45 tolas of gold and diamond jewellery, 2 kg of silver jewellery and 3.50 kg of artificial jewellery from them.

Furkan and Alam would sell the stolen goods to Mazhar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Chand said.

According to the official, Furkan was earlier arrested for his involvement in more than 20 theft cases.

'After his release on bail in May 2010, Furkan and Alam committed more than 17 burglaries in the city,' Chand said.
