Tibetans held for picketing Chinese embassy, released

India Gazette (IANS) Sunday 9th October, 2011

Thirteen Tibetan students were detained here Sunday for picketing the Chinese embassy to protest against the 'illegal Chinese occupation of Tibet', police said. They were later released.

'Seven women and six men were held after they shouted slogans against the Chinese. They were first protesting outside the embassy lawns and later tried to forcefully enter the embassy,' said a police officer.

Shouting slogans like 'Free Tibet', the students were sent to the Chanakyapuri police station in a police bus.

The protesters were from Dharamsala, the officer added.
