Pak SC directs Gilani's lawyer to remove 'objectionable' paras from appeal
India Gazette (ANI) Thursday 9th February, 2012
The Pakistan Supreme Court has directed lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan to remove 'objectionable' paragraphs from his appeal in connection with a contempt of court case against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Pakistan Chief Justice Iftikar Ahmad Chaudhary questioned Ahsan on how he could include paragraphs in his appeal, which said that the contempt case could not be initiated against Gilani as he had helped in restoring judges, the Express Tribune reports.
Ahsan said in his reply that even if a contempt case was initiated against him, keeping in view his struggles in the restoration of judges, he would have taken the same stance.
The newly formed eight-member bench, headed by the chief justice, was formed on February 8 after Ahsan filed an appeal in the Supreme Court on contempt of court charges against Gilani.(ANI)
