ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the Narendra Modi government is a "real and present threat to peace" in the area. All minorities in India were being targeted by extremist organizations supported by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Last month, leaders of various far-right parties in India reiterated calls for ethnic cleansing of its minorities, particularly its 200 million-strong Muslim community.
According to The Quint, Hindutva activist Yati Narsinghanand organized the "hate speech conclave" from December 17 to 19 in Uttarakhand's pilgrimage city of Haridwar, when several appeals to kill minorities and attack their religious spaces were voiced.
In a series of tweets Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan chastised Modi for his "continued silence" and inactivity against radical Hindutva groups pushing for the genocide of minorities in the country.
He claimed that the provocations against India's minorities motivated the ruling BJP government's "extremist ideology."
"Under the extremist ideology of the BJP Modi govt, all religious minorities in India have been targeted with impunity by Hindutva groups," he said.
The prime minister criticized the Modi government's continued silence, saying it was unclear whether the BJP government supported the radicals' call.
He encouraged the world community to pay attention to the calls and take action.
