ISLAMABAD, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan reassured Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday of Pakistan's resolve to work with Russia on the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline Project. The two leaders discussed expanding bilateral economic and energy cooperation.
PM Khan and President Putin spoke by phone on the two countries' relations, regional situation, Islamophobia, and Western countries' justification of blasphemy as freedom of expression.
Coincidentally, the conversation took place just as India began installing the first of Russia's S-400 'Triumf' surface-to-air missile systems on its borders with Pakistan with the intention to deploy five S-400 regiments.
"The prime minister underscored that Pakistan's bilateral relationship with Russia was on an upward trajectory, with an increased focus on trade and economic ties and energy cooperation. He reiterated the government's resolve for early realization of the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline Project," the Premier's Office said in a statement.
According to Kremlin: "The discussion centered on the growth of Russian-Pakistani cooperation in several areas, including commerce, the economy, energy, and the humanitarian field, as well as countering the spread of the coronavirus infection."
