Severe flooding in Bangladesh, India left behind a trail of destruction: EU

The European Commission has allocated 2 million euros in emergency aid to those affected by the current floods in Bangladesh and India.
According to a message received on Friday, the EU has released 1.2 million euros in humanitarian aid funding to people affected by flooding in Bangladesh's northeast and northern regions.
According to the message, this year's floods are worse than those experienced in 1998 and 2004.

DHAKA, Bangladesh - The European Commission has allocated €2 million in emergency aid to those affected by the current floods in Bangladesh and India.

According to a message received on Friday, the EU has released €1.2 million in humanitarian aid funding to people affected by flooding in Bangladesh's northeast and northern regions.

According to the message, this year's floods are worse than those experienced in 1998 and 2004.

"The EU provides €800,000 in emergency assistance to India, focusing on assisting people in the most flood-affected areas of Assam state."

According to the message, the assistance will benefit affected and displaced people in the two countries' worst-affected regions. It will be channeled through the EU's humanitarian aid partners on the ground.

The severe monsoon and flooding in Bangladesh and India, according to Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic, have left a trail of destruction.

"With many people losing family members, homes, belongings, and sources of livelihood, the humanitarian situation is grave and expected to worsen in the coming days," he added.

This is why the EU has provided €2 million in emergency funding to ensure that our partners on the ground can assist those in greatest need."
