Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu) [India], February 24 (ANI): Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal, arrived at Trichy International Airport after participating in the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking to media at the airport, Swamigal expressed his happiness at witnessing the large turnout at the Maha Kumbh Mela, a significant religious event for Hindus.
He said, 'Kumbh Mela is a very important religious event in our country. People from various parts of our country are also participating in the Kumbh Mela. It's happy to see this.'
Swamigal also praised the arrangements made for the event by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which he said had ensured the smooth conduct of the religious affair.
'I heard that more than 52 crore people have taken the holy dip till now. UP CM has done very good arrangements for the Maha Kumbh Mela,' he added.
As a gesture of respect, Swamigal also mentioned the invitation extended to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to visit Tamil Nadu. 'As an honor, we have invited the UP CM Yogi to Tamil Nadu,' Swamigal shared.
Meanhwile, Singer Kailash Kher took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam in the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Sunday morning. He was joined by the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Sambit Patra for the holy dip. He said the Mahakumbh was one of the largest sacred gatherings in the world and a 'proud moment' for India.
Notably, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that 620 million devotees have visited the Maha Kumbh mela being held at Prayagraj.
Welcoming the guests at the Unicorn Companies Conclave in Agra, CM Yogi said, 'I can call it the Unicorn Maha Kumbh of the startup world because, at this time, there is an attraction toward Maha Kumbh.'
CM Yogi highlighted that such a gathering of people during a specific time period is a 'rare' event.
'So far 62 crore devotees have come to Prayagraj Maha Kumbh... Such a large gathering of people during a specific period is one of the rare events of this century... This tradition of India has given rise to the arrangement of organizing these events at 4 important places in India since ancient times...' Yogi said. (ANI)
