Dublin [Ireland] March 7 (ANI): EAM S Jaishankar on Friday addressed the Indian community in Dublin and spoke at length on varied subjects ranging from the Chinese aggression just after COVID to technological advancements in India.
The External Affairs Minister said that when he travels across the world he can see a can-do spirit among young Indians and this was a positive thing.
'One part of it is what is happening in India. And I see a lot of young people here. I also want to say, for me, as a person who travels in India, goes to universities, goes to professional meetings, I also see the spirit, this can-do spirit, very strongly in young people. That is why I look today at any event that involves innovation, which involves invention, which involves patents. I find that even in universities, a lot of universities introduce you to students not by the marks that they've got, but actually by the patents that they have got. And I think that's a very interesting mind-set change today in India. But beyond that, I think there is also the issue of how we react to the world. And here, too, we've had challenges,' the EAM said.
Speaking about Indian advancements in technology, he said that India will be the early mover when it comes to 6G technology.
'On telecom, which is so critical for our existence today. We got our 2G, 3G, and 4G technology from Europe and China. But today, our 5G technology is an India stack. The fastest rollout of 5G today, which is happening everywhere in the world, is actually in India. And we are very confident that when it comes to 6G, we'll be among the early movers rather than one of the laggards.'
Speaking about the Chinese aggression, EAM said, 'We had, soon after COVID, a challenge on our borders. you know, with China. Now again, if you think back, a lot of people said this is very serious, which was true. It was a very big challenge, which was also true. But the fact was we stood, our military was deployed. We stood there. We took a long time. We stood our ground. We were very patient, determined about it.' (ANI)
