Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], April 18 (ANI): Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday stated that the people of the country do not believe that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi will acquire any property, as the Nehru family have donated all their assets to the country.
'The action taken by ED and the way the whole country has reacted after that, the BJP is upset and the Congress workers are protesting in all the districts. The people of the country do not believe that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi will grab any property. This is the family that sacrificed two lives for the country. The family that donated all its property for the country,' Bhupesh Baghel told ANI.
Youth Congress workers staged a massive protest outside the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) office in Madhya Pradesh's capital, Bhopal, against the ED chargesheet in the National Herald case, which includes their party's supreme leaders, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others.
The protestors tried to gather outside the ED office here, and the police present at the spot warned them to vacate the place. Later on, the police used water cannons to disperse the protestors.
Youth Congress state president Mitendra Singh told ANI, 'Today, we are protesting that the way Prime Minister Narendra Modi is creating an atmosphere of fear in the country, if a person cannot raise his voice within democracy, then when will they raise their voice. If he (referring to Rahul Gandhi) is raising his voice for the public and the constitution, you (referring to PM Modi) are trying to suppress that voice by making false accusations. Today, the Youth Congress workers are demonstrating that we will fight for the constitution. We will go among the people and tell them that when Modi is afraid, he forwards the ED and the CBI.'
The ED filed a prosecution complaint against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and others in the National Herald case, with the matter listed for arguments on cognisance in the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court on April 25. (ANI)
