New Delhi [India], May 20 (ANI): Former Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar on Tuesday said that the objective of all party delegations is to explain India's position on terrorism to other countries.
MJ Akbar is part of the eight-member delegation, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, which will convey India's stance to European Union, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Denmark.
Speaking with ANI, MJ Akbar highlighted the threat of terrorism saying that it is 'a vicious, poisonous problem'.
'Our principal objective is to explain the national position, as articulated by PM Modi and explain it to the world that our fight is against the terrorism. Terrorism is a vicious, poisonous problem in the region, and not only in the region but across the world,' Akbar said.
Akbar said that the threat from terrorism is not restricted to one geography but extends to other geographies like Europe.
'The threat that emerges from a century of terrorism is not restricted merely to one geography; it extends to other geographies. It extends Europe. Europe has been a victim of terrorism.
MJ Akbar also highlighted that the objective of delegations is to explain India precise measures against terrorism.
'We need to explain that India did precisely what the PM made the objective of India's war against terrorism, which was we would hit terrorist bases. We sent a powerful message as the PM said that we will hunt the terrorists wherever they are in the world; and if they are in Pakistan, we will hunt them there too,' Akbar said.
Along with MJ Akbar, TDP MP Duggubati Purandeswari, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, Rajya Sabha MP Gulam Ali Khatana, Congress MP Amar Singh, BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran is part of the Ravi Shankar Prasad delegation.
India will send seven all-party delegations, each led by a prominent leader from various political parties, will visit different countries to highlight India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
Notably the delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor will visit the USA, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, and Colombia. (ANI)
