Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], May 30 (ANI): Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari on Friday criticised Congress MP Jairam Ramesh's statement, saying it was wrong to compare parliamentarians to terrorists.
Kumari expressed disappointment over Ramesh's comments, questioning the Congress party's mindset. Kumari found it disturbing that Ramesh would make such a comparison, especially given his senior leadership position in the party. She emphasized that Ramesh's statement was not only incorrect but also reflected poorly on the Congress party's understanding of the situation
Replying to Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari called his statement 'disgusting' and questioned Congress' mindset.
Speaking to ANI, Dy CM Kumari said, '...Comparing our parliamentarians to terrorists is very wrong. What kind of mindset does Congress have? They are not able to understand what is happening.... Sometimes they ask for proof, sometimes they say MPs and terrorists are the same. This is a very disgusting thought... I wonder how such a senior leader can give such a statement...'
Questioning the Centre over the Pahalgam attack, Jairam Ramesh said, 'Our MPs are roaming around, and our terrorists are roaming around too.'
Jairam Ramesh's statement began a row between BJP and Congress leaders. BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla urged the Privileges Committee of Parliament to take immediate cognisance and initiate action against Ramesh.
'This is the most shameful, condemnable, and senseless statement. The Privileges Committee of the Parliament should immediately take cognisance of this and take action,' Poonawalla said while speaking to ANI on Thursday. Drawing attention to past instances, Poonawalla accused the Congress of repeatedly undermining India's armed forces and national interests.
BJP's national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia also hit back and said, 'What Jairam Ramesh said is condemnable and concerning. It puts all Indian citizens to shame that how an Indian leader can compare Indian MPs to terrorists. It won't be wrong to say that after Operation Sindoor, the sole attempt of Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress, at the behest of Nishan-e-Pakistan Rahul Gandhi, has been to see how the successful initiatives by the Narendra Modi Government be weakened internally while being in India. This is another attempt in the same series.'
He questioned, 'I would like to ask Jairam Ramesh, all-party delegation of our MPs, which has gone abroad and is presenting India's side strongly by rising above bipartisan politics, should these MPs be compared to terrorists?' (ANI)
