New Delhi [India], July 18 (ANI): Following the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attaching 43 immovable properties worth Rs 37.64 crore linked to Robert Vadra, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal alleged that the latest ED action against Vadra is a pure political vendetta.
In a post on X, Venugopal said, 'It seems the Modi-Shah duo has given the ED a monthly assignment to go after the Congress senior leadership and their family. The latest ED action against Mr. Robert Vadra is pure political vendetta - yet another futile attempt at intimidation.'
Congress MP Randeep Surjewala said that this was another vicious attempt by the Modi government to intimidate and persecute Robert Vadra, which would fail miserably.
'The witch-hunting of Robert Vadra is another vicious attempt of the Modi Govt to intimidate and persecute, which will fail miserably. In Shikohpur, Gurgaon, there is not an iota of illegality or whisper of a crime. Since when have sale and purchase of property (3.5 Acres of land in this case) have become illegal or criminal? Was an inch of Govt land allotted? Answer is NO! Was any License given to Robert Vadra for 'change of land use'? Answer is NO! Was any stamp duty evaded? Answer is NO!' Sujrewala said on X.
'Was any Law, rules or regulations for sale or purchase of land or for conversion of land violated? Answer is NO! Do Robert Vadra or his Company own the land or have made any building thereon? Answer is NO! Who owns the land and license? Answer is DLF since the year 2012. Then, WHAT IS THE CRIME? Crime is that the 'factory of false persecution' has to keep fake narratives alive. Truth will win !,' he added.
Earlier on Thursday, ED attached 43 immovable properties worth Rs 37.64 crore linked to Vadra and his entities, as well as filed a prosecution complaint or chargesheet against him and 10 others.
The properties belong to Vadra and his entities, including Sky Light Hospitality Pvt Ltd, officials privy to the development, told ANI.
The provisional attachment order was issued on July 16, 2025, as part of an ongoing probe based on an FIR registered by Gurugram Police on September 1, 2018. The case pertains to the alleged fraudulent purchase of 3.53 acres of land in Shikohpur village, Sector 83, Gurugram, by Vadra's firm from Onkareshwar Properties Pvt Ltd on February 12, 2008.
Vadra's office has reaffirmed his innocence and termed the investigation as 'nothing more than an extension of the political witch hunt by the present government against him,' stating that the businessman is a law-abiding citizen and is cooperating with the authorities.
'Robert Vadra is aware of reports suggesting that the Directorate of Enforcement has filed a Prosecution Complaint naming him as an Accused before the Rouse Avenue Courts, Delhi. As the Court is yet to even take cognisance of the matter, Vadra has not had the opportunity to examine the Prosecution Complaint,' read the statement from Vadra's office.
'As a law-abiding Indian citizen, Mr Vadra has always and will continue to extend his fullest cooperation to the authorities and he is confident that at the end of it all, the truth will prevail and he will be cleared of any wrongdoing,' the statement read. (ANI)
