New Delhi [India], August 5 (ANI): Amid the row over Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar, Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan accused Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Leader of Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, of involvement in 'duplicity of votes'.
'... Who is giving rise to this situation of doubt? As an LoP in Bihar, he conducts a press conference and complains that his name is not there in the electoral roll,' Paswan asked.
'The Election Commission immediately refuted his claims and released the whole list, in which his name was also there. Now questions arise whether he has two voter IDs. If that is the case, it is extremely worrisome. This has been a concern of the Election Commission and the opposition. You are involved in duplicacy of votes, something you made allegations against...'
He was asked about the allegations made by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on the Election Commission.
His remarks come days after Tejashwi Yadav alleged that his EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) number has been 'changed.'
Addressing a press conference in Patna, Yadav had alleged 'My name is not there in the electoral roll. How will I contest the elections?'
Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed against Tejashwi Yadav at Digha Police Station in Patna, alleging that he holds two Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs). The complaint was submitted by an advocate, Rajiv Ranjan, who has requested that appropriate legal action be initiated.
Bihar is expected to undergo assembly elections later in the year. However, the Election Commission has not announced the dates as of yet. (ANI)
LJP (Ram Vilas) is set to contest elections with the National Democratic Alliance led by the BJP and JD(U) in the state. (ANI)
