Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], December 6 (ANI): The All India Congress Committee (AICC) is taking forward the organisational restructuring process in Himachal Pradesh, with observers deputed to all districts to shortlist suitable candidates for key posts.
Speaking to the media in Shimla on Saturday, AICC Observer and Member of Parliament, Sanjana Jatav, said the process for selecting the president of the Shimla District Congress Committee has reached an advanced stage.
'For the post of Shimla District Congress President, six names have been finalised. After discussion, this panel will be sent to the All India Congress Committee,' she said.
She added that observers across the state are completing their assessments and submitting reports, ensuring the reorganisation of district units is finalised by the end of this month. Once completed, the new Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee leadership will begin functioning in a refreshed structure.
Jatav said she has extensively toured all eight blocks of Shimla district as part of the party's 'Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan' (organisation creation campaign), holding discussions with leaders, office-bearers, grassroots workers and local citizens.
'I have received 10 applications from Shimla city and 25 applications from rural Shimla for the district president's post. I have spoken to all stakeholders, MLAs, ministers, senior leaders, and grassroots workers and collected feedback,' she said.
The shortlisted panel of six candidates will be sent to the party leadership on December 8, and the final decision will be taken after consultations with senior central leaders.
'The panel will be discussed by senior leaders, including AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal ji and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi ji,' Jatav noted.
She said that the party leadership's focus is on inclusive representation.
'Rahul Gandhi's farsighted vision guides us. Those who work at the ground level must be strengthened and represented. Youth, women, and all social groups are being given due importance. The final list will reflect a balanced approach.' She added.
Jatav confirmed that the groundwork at the district level is nearly complete.
'Now, the discussion will take place at the AICC level and the entire process will be completed within a month,' she added. (ANI)
