New Delhi [India], December 23 (ANI): The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) today welcomed Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi, as he assumed the additional charge of Chairman, AICTE.
Professor Singh took charge at the AICTE headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of AICTE Vice-Chairman Dr. Abhay Jere and Member Secretary Professor Shyama Rath.
The assumption of additional charge by Prof. Yogesh Singh reflects the trust and confidence placed in his leadership and administrative acumen. Currently serving as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Prof. Singh brings nearly 15 years of experience leading some of the country's most prominent higher education institutions.
Welcoming the new Chairman, Member Secretary Professor Shyama Rath said that entrusting Prof. Singh with the responsibility of two major national institutions, AICTE and the University of Delhi, underscores his proven capability in academic governance and policy leadership.
She added that his vast experience would significantly benefit AICTE institutions, faculty members, students, and all stakeholders across the technical education ecosystem.
Before assuming the role of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Prof. Yogesh Singh served as Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Technological University (DTU) and of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.
He has also served as Director of Netaji Subhas University of Technology and has been a member of several national-level committees that contribute to higher education policy. Notably, he previously served on the AICTE Central Regional Committee as Chairman.
An eminent academician, Prof. Singh holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from NIT Kurukshetra. He has authored several books on Software Engineering and has guided numerous PhD scholars. Under his leadership, the University of Delhi has achieved important milestones, including improvements in global university rankings.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Yogesh Singh stated, 'I look forward to working with the AICTE team and institutions to strengthen technical education in alignment with the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for Viksit Bharat@2047. Innovation, technology, and quality education will be the key drivers of this national mission.'
AICTE Vice-Chairman Dr. Abhay Jere expressed confidence that under Prof. Singh's leadership, AICTE would further enhance its role and reputation in the field of technical education.
The AICTE fraternity extended a warm welcome to Prof. Yogesh Singh and assured him of full cooperation in achieving AICTE's goals for the development of technical education in the country. (ANI)
